Carola Insolera is signed with Women Management Milano and is known for being the only deaf female model currently active in the fashion industry. Originally, she worked in the circus as an aerialist, Pierrot clown and contortionist and toured around England. A half year later, she was asked to give a show at Copenhagen Fashion Week for Mundi Design 2011. It was followed afterwards by London Fashion Week. Since then, Insolera has worked exclusively in the fashion industry and was known as a circus model.
In an recent interview with Grazia magazine, Insolera stated that deafness is an asset since visual communication is part of her daily life. It has a considerable influence with the industry.
She started her career at age eight as a Norwegian Sign Language TV Presenter and actress for Tid For Tegn, an educative TV program under NRK. The show encouraged the inclusion of the hearing and deaf people by teaching sign language broadcasting. There were uncountable series of leading Insolera doing various journeys and giving some presentations. At the end of the each episode, she would introduce new signs of the day. After eleven years of work, she became interested in body language expression that has brought her to work in the circus and later in the fashion and film industry. Insolera was featured in Melissa Matos’ music video Blue Hawaii: “Reaction II”, Freddy's video commercial "The Art of Movement"and BBC's Ways of Talking: Persuading, Explaining, Instructing.. She is also set to be featured in an upcoming action and adventure movie Sign Gene scheduled for a 2016 release.
Insolera was born to deaf parents in Oslo. She is in relationship with Italian film director Emilio Insolera.
